Introduction #

My Home Battery is a small app to monitor and control a home battery. Currently only one type of battery is being supported by it. This is the “Sessy” battery, a product of the Dutch company Charged. More details about the battery can be found at www.sessy.nl

Features #

The app communicates directly with the battery via the local network. It can display the current status and strategy. Via the app the battery can also be switched into different modes.

Home screen #

The home screen contains cards of known batteries with the status of each of them.
Below is a screenshot of an example with one battery. It is possible to add multiple batteries.

Detail screens #

The detail screen contains the same information as shown in the Home screen plus some controls, depending on the device.

Sessy P1 detail screen #

The detail screen for the P1 device shows the different metrics available, such as the current power consumption.

Sessy Dongel detail screen #

• The charge button tells the battery to start charging. This will be done with a value specified in the advanced settings for the battery (see: Edit Device)
• The discharge button tells the battery to start discharging. This will be done with a value specified in the advanced settings for the battery (see: Edit Device)
• The zero on meter button tells the battery to switch to the “Zero on the meter” mode. In this mode the battery will try to compensate for the home usage so the end result is zero usage from the net.
• The Schedule button tells the battery to switch to the “Dynamic pricing” mode. Within this mode the battery charges when prices are low and delivers energy during high prices.
• Eco switches the battery in Eco mode
• Sessy Connect switches the battery into “Sessy Connect” mode.
• The Idle button switches the battery in an Idle mode.

Sessy Dongel schedule #

The Sessy Dongel can be active via “Charge / Discharge” schedule (ROI or Schedule mode). The Schedule shows the base electricity price and if the Dongel will charge, discharge or stays idle.

Sessy Dongel system details #

The system details show the “System details” of the Sessy Dongel. It also shows the internal counters for imported and exported energy.

Add device #

Adding a new device is quite easy. Just tap the floating “+” to add a new device.

With the dropdown you can select what kind of device you are going to add. This is either the “Sessy Dongel” (WIFI Dongle) or the Sessy P1 meter. Both devices require the information that can be found on the sticker that came with the device. Below an example of the sticker that came with a “Sessy Dongel”.

• Name contains a descriptive name for the device, it’s just for presentation and will be used as a label

• Address contains the ip-address/hostname of the controller of the device.
  You can look-up this address within the Sessy portal (https://portal.sessy.nl)
  Alternatively you can try to use the “WiFi naam” from the sticker with .local added to it. So for the sticker above that would be Sessy-DJT7.local

• Username contains the username for the device
  The value next to “Gebruikersnaam” from the sticker

• Password contains the password for the device
  The value next to “Wachtwoord” from the sticker

Edit device #

Within the edit device screen you can edit the details of the device, such as connection information. For example when the connection information has been changed. You can also edit the “advanced” settings for the device. These are settings specific for the device.

Advanced dongle settings #

The dongle also has some advanced settings. The advanced button will open a list of extra settings. The following settings are available:

• Show Idle button
  Shows or hides the Idle button. On small screens you might need to scroll to have this button completely visible
• Show solar production Shows the solar production, when the solar panels are connected to this dongle
• Show charge/discharge Shows an extra metric saying “Charging” / “Power delivery” on the card in the main screen
• Charge amount
  Amount (in watt) with which the battery will charge when the charge button is pressed
• Discharge amount
  Amount (in watt) with which the battery will discharge when the discharge button is pressed

General app preferences #

There are a few settings which control the app behavior

The app can run in English or Dutch and defaults to English.

• Show labels will show a label on top if the cards in the home screen
• Show unit will show the units of measure, such as KwH or A for the various metrics
• The refresh interval controls how often the app fetches new data from the devices
• With guess single phase the app tries to guess if you own a “Single phase set-up” and hides the other phases in the detail screens
